Blood:Water Mission is an organization working to empower communities in Africa to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises. This is a really sweet idea--and they set you up with all the materials to run the stand and educate folks. I found out about this organization through an article in the Brattleboro Reformer. I used to live in Vermont so I'm happy when I see other Vermonters doing good things. I'd like this one no matter what, though! Les Espoirs de Demain is helping children in Senegal in so many ways. It's a relatively new organization that will take donations of articles as well as money. Please check them out.

PlanUSA is a great cause and I love some of the features on their website. You have to check out their Visit A Village page. I'd also love to hear suggestions of other sites that are using technology in unique and effective ways.

Room To Read works in rural areas of Asia and Africa to establish libraries and opportunities to read. "World Change starts with educated children."

I'm glad to have found an African organization that I can confidently include. It has a solid history and it also has a four star rating in Charity Navigator. I want to go back and read more myself! See AMREF.
