This one does require a skill. If you sew, keep reading. If you have a sewing machine, keep reading. If not, go explore another page on the site. For those who sew, I want to introduce you to Quilts for Kids. I just started learning to quilt a couple of weeks ago and I already feel like I could do this one. It might not take a month, but that's the turn around time they are asking. Take a look at the site, check if there is a local chapter for you. If not, click here. They will send you much of what you need! You will get the joy of creating the quilt, and a needy child will be comforted by it. Fun and worthy!!

Just added Child Aid in the $500 category. They are working in South America to to give children of the rural indigenous poor a fair chance in life. They have been doing this for twenty years and they partner with local organizations to be as effective as they can. Your money will go far there. Their website is colorful and informative. If you're a librarian you will be tempted to want to go there and help! (Says the librarian....)

Do you like music? Do you like kids? Do you think kids and music go together like P&JLittle Kids Rock is dedicated to bringing free musical instruments and music instruction to underserved schools across the country. Your donation of $100 could buy two guitars for a classroom. Remember, kids just want to [have] strum!

I found out about this organization through an article in the Brattleboro Reformer. I used to live in Vermont so I'm happy when I see other Vermonters doing good things. I'd like this one no matter what, though! Les Espoirs de Demain is helping children in Senegal in so many ways. It's a relatively new organization that will take donations of articles as well as money. Please check them out.
