Here is an eye-opener in terms of what you could do if you had $1.00 a day to give away. Women Thrive develops, shapes and advocates for policies that foster economic opportunities for women living in poverty. They believe that women are the key to ending global poverty. or as they say--"When you teach a woman to fish, everybody eats." The $1.00 opportunity here is explained on this page. Simply put, you are going to pledge $1.00 each day for a year by joining the Dollar-A-Day Circle. This is a great website--check it out.
The Gulf Oil Spill is going to be an area of concern for quite awhile, unfortunately. The American Bird Conservancy is a highly rated organization that can give you the latest information.
Do you like music? Do you like kids? Do you think kids and music go together like P&J? Remember, kids just want to [have] strum!
When's the last time you had a lemonade stand? This could be a great family activity, or fun to set up anywhere on a hot day. Blood:Water Mission is an organization working to empower communities in Africa to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises. This is a really sweet idea--and they set you up with all the materials to run the stand and educate folks. Get in touch with your inner child and have a great day to support this organization and your neighbors in Africa!
I found out about this organization through an article in the Brattleboro Reformer. I used to live in Vermont so I'm happy when I see other Vermonters doing good things. I'd like this one no matter what, though! Les Espoirs de Demain is helping children in Senegal in so many ways. It's a relatively new organization that will take donations of articles as well as money. Please check them out.
