I have $500.00

1. Donate $500.00 to Doctors Without Borders to provide a medical kit containing basic drugs, supplies, equipment, and dressings to treat 1,500 patients for three months. Click here
for donation information.

2. For $480.00 a year you can sponsor a child at the Tibetan Children's Villages (TCV) in Dharamsala, India where they are providing care and education for Tibetan Refugee Children. Your sponsorship for $40 a month provides food, shelter, clothes, toiletry needs, medical care, and education.

3. When I first clicked on The Fistula Program website it brought tears to my eyes. This foundation is providing life-changing treatment for women in Ethiopia, Angola, Afghanistan, Somaliland, and the Congo. If you're not familiar with this most devastating injury of childbirth which was eradicated in western countries over one hundred years ago, you'll want to explore this site and learn. After that, take $450 and donate to the Love-A-Sister Program. You can spread your payment out over a year. This money will pay for surgery and postoperative care for one of thousands of needy women.

4. If you like to read, you can share your love of reading by taking your $500 and investing it in Room To Read. This relatively small amount will provide for three years of library management training for a teacher in a rural community in Asia or Africa. Room To Read also stocks the libraries and contributes to creating educated children. There's a lot to read about on their website since they've been working on different projects for over ten years now. Click here to donate.

5. Here's an opportunity to help with literacy in Guatemala. Child Aid is an organization that has been working in Latin America for twenty years to give children of the rural indigenous poor a better chance at life. They work with local partners to improve literacy and education so that a better future is obtainable. Looking at the Specific Needs List you will see that $500 will provide basic reference and textbooks for a community's school or library. There are other funding opportunities listed here as well, so check them all out.
