I have one day
1. This one rates very high on fun factor! All you're going to do is bake cookies, decorate them with friends, and donate them to a local food pantry, emergency shelter, senior center, lunch program, or other local nonprofit organization. Smiles all around, right? A website called Drop In & Decorate can help you with all the logistics to do this right. The website is extensive, so take some time to do the reading before you dive in. They make it easy to do something good and they have all bases covered on their website.
2. The Polaris Project is one of the largest anti-trafficking organizations in the United States. It works with all forms of trafficking and helps both citizens and foreign nationals. Do you think that this is not an issue in your area? Better do some reading on this site. Then go to their Take Action- Raise Awareness page and read through their suggested actions. I think if you had a whole day you could do quite a few of these...if not all. Some of them are simple and they give you the tools to help.
3. This is going to be a really fun summer activity. Blood:Water Mission empowers communities in Africa to work together against HIV/AIDS and water crises. First find out more about this organization by watching this. Then comes the really fun part--the lemon-aid stand! Click here to get materials and information on how to spend the day running a lemon-aid stand in your community. When's the last time you've done that? It's a chance to make money to donate to Blood:Water Mission and educate people at the same time.
