I have one month

1. This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer for projects with the United Nations Volunteers Online Volunteering Service. The database will match you with an organization. Click here to go directly to the online site and find out how to put your skills to work. Tasks include research, writing, translation, design, consulting and more. And truthfully, it might be a month... or more or less. And yes, these can all be done from the comfort of home.

2. Do you want to play? KaBOOM is an organization dedicated to bring play back into children's lives. They build playgrounds and promote play in areas all over the US where children don't have anywhere to play. I'm putting this activity in the one month category, but PlayDay is an annual event and will take place in September 2010 this year. I think it will take a month to plan this because what you are going to do is host a PlayDay in your community using the resources available here. You will probably want to do this with a group of friends and it is going to help your local community. Read all the reports from last year, and start planning.

3. This one does require a skill. If you sew, keep reading. If you have a sewing machine, keep reading. If not, go explore another page on the site. For those who sew, I want to introduce you to Quilts for Kids. I just started learning to quilt a couple of weeks ago and I already feel like I could do this one. It might not take a month, but that's the turn around time they are asking. Take a look at the site, check if there is a local chapter for you. If not, click here. They will send you much of what you need! You will get the joy of creating the quilt, and a needy child will be comforted by it. Fun and worthy!!
